Familial Enamel Hypoplasia (FEH) Test Added For CHIC Requirement

Per Motion 24-200 Familial Enamel Hypoplasia (FEH) of Samoyeds, also known as Autosomal Recessive Amelogenesis Imperfecta (ARAI), has be approved to be added as a required test for CHIC. This disease affects the enamel of dogs’ teeth, resulting in gaps between teeth, enamel pitting, and premature tooth wear. This is a DNA test specific for Samoyeds.

Current data estimates that 12-18% of the Samoyed population carries one (carrier) or two (affected) chromosomes for this disorder. Link to FEH information on UC Davis’ site: https://vgl.ucdavis.edu/test/feh-samoyed

Samoyeds Needed for AKC Pups & Pints Event in NYC – Feb 7th

I am looking for individuals who are relatively local to NYC and would be able to participate in our event, bring their beautiful Samoyed(s) and represent the breed.
We do not currently have any individuals able to attend with their Samoyed(s) nor a representative from your rescue network 😊
We need a few great dogs of various breeds that are well-trained, socialized and comfortable in groups of animals and people for an in person event.
The purpose of the event is to educate and teach millennials about purebred dogs, responsible dog ownership as well as all components of the AKC especially our good works.  We bring together AKC dog people (e.g. club members, delegates, breeders,  fanciers, representatives from AKC Rescue Network), their gorgeous dogs and Millennials in locations that are already familiar to our target, dog friendly bars and breweries!
How it works –We establish an event, primarily through Facebook and encourage our target to come meet the most popular dog breeds and some rare breeds that they likely have never seen in person.  It’s a ticketed event where proceeds go to one of our charities (AKC Humane Fund, AKC Pet Disaster Relief and Reunite etc.) Events thus far have sold out quickly with 200+ attendees at each event, over 6k noting that they would be interested in going, reaching more than 150k people per city.  We can drive these numbers higher with a bigger event venue.
The event details are as follows:
Long Island City, Queens: Thursday, February 7th 6-9 at LIC Bar
If you’re available and willing to come please let me know or please send over contacts of those who may be able to attend!
We will reimburse your travel expenses with a $50 visa gift card.
Also if you have any additional questions at all, please feel free to give me a call!
Thanks so much!
